Do you know where or how to get tested?
Residents who believe they have been exposed to the virus and have symptoms should call their physician or an urgent care clinic for an assessment, and if appropriate, a referral. Those who cannot afford a doctor’s visit may call Metro Health’s COVID-19 hotline at (210) 207-5779. Learn more.

Get help for you and your family. Here are family care assistance programs:
- Child Care Assistance – The United Way of San Antonio is providing emergency child care assistance for residents who qualify.
- United Way Helpline – This is a social service hotline that helps people in the region find information about local resources available to them.
Don’t go hungry. If you need food assistance, please reach out to one of the following:
- San Antonio Food Bank – Network of food pantries and mobile food distributions remains fully operational and open to the public for help.
- Schools Offering Free Breakfast & Lunch – A helpful article from My San Antonio with concise information on what school districts are providing food for students.
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – provides money for food, and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children provides resources for pregnant women and people with children younger than 5.
- Meals on Wheels – is providing meals to at-risk seniors in the community.
- Little Free Pantry – is a grassroots, crowd-sourced solution that facilitates feeding neighbors and bringing attention to food insecurity.

- Rental Assistance – The Salvation Army is helping individuals and families who are struggling to pay their rent.
- SAMMinistries – Are offering rental assistance and utility support.
- Fair Housing and Emergency Assistance – Effective March 18, 2020, the City’s Fair Housing Division is accepting emergency rent and mortgage assistance referrals.
- Request for Utility Assistance – This program assists with utility assistance for CPS Energy and assists with an Affordability Discount Program Application. Seniors, families with young children, individuals with disabilities, and individuals using critical medical care equipment may apply.
- Fair Housing Council – The Council’s programs and services, such as complaint investigation, advocacy, and education & outreach are available to consumers living in this South Texas service area.

The Texas Workforce Commissioners office has stated that it is receiving a large influx of online visitors and some people are unable to reach the site because of this. They are recommending to apply online during their low volume hours which they have identified as between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.
